SUBJECT:

FLORIDA STATE UNIVERSITY DRAFT REPORT ON A CHARACTERIZATION OF GEOLOGIC FAULTS IN THE APPALACHIAN FOLDBELT In response to your request, I have reviewed Appendix B of the Florida State University Draft Report.

This section was very interesting. However, it was not tied together very well.

It began with a discussion of multiple event earthquakes then addressed the question of variation of friction along fault planes, and it ends with some discussion of fault zone width.

The pcints are indeed related, however, they are not well developed. This lack of structure compromises the usefulness of the section.

This section is not developed well in context o' the overall report. While interesting, its scope is so different that pei ops it belongs in a different volume.
