Dear Mr. Denton:
Pall Trinity Micro is a manufacturer of industrial process filters and air dryers.
We are a major supplier of filters and air dryers to nuclear power plants operated by electric utilities.
This business accounts for 10% of our annual sales volume.
About 1.5% of this sales volume is on hold because of the NRC freeze on issuance of construction permits and operating licenses for nuclear power plants.
The NRC freeze and its impact upon our business in nuclear filters and instrumentation air dryers has affected our production.
This situation is not desireable in a labor sur-plus area such as Cortland, New York.
The presidential commission which investigated the Three Mile Island accident rejected precisely the kind of moratorium the NRC has imposed, suggesting instead that each nuclear unit be considered on a plant-by-plant basis.
l The NRC freeze ignores the many initiatives taken by the nuclear power industry since TMI.
Although no one was killed or injured in that mishap, the industry has taken steps that will make nuclear energy even safer.
These lessons can be, and are being, applied without a licensing moratorium.
Pall Trinity Micro Corporation requests that you encourage the NRC to reconsider this ban.
Sincerely, j
PALL TRINITY MICRO CORPORATION
