J Mr. Harold R, Denton, Director Nuclear Regulatory Cornission 1717 H. Street, N.W.
i'ashington, D. C.
20555 Dcar Mr. Der.'o n:
It is with graec concern that we write regarding the N.R.C.'s November 5th decision to stop issuing construction permits and operating licenses for nuclear power planta. We feel this decision was ill advised and ill timed in view of the current problems we are having in obtaining and maintaining adequate oil supplies.
The situation in the Middle East, as you well are aware, could ultimately lead to blockage of all shipping lanes from the Persian Gulf adversely affecting all European economics as well as our own.
Our domestic situation isn't much brighter.
The pending wind f: 11 profits tax, constantly increasing cost of exploration and completion, coupled with loss of incentive, all point toward drastic shortages in the coming months.
We strongly urge that you, as Director, take the initiative to remove this coratorium, and at the very 1 cast, let each nuclear unit be considered on a plant-by-plant basis.
Sincerely, EVANS ELECTRICAL SUPPLY, INC.
