Dear Mr. Denton:

The decision by the NRC on November 5 to stop issuing construction permits and operating licenses for nuclear power plants was very disturbing to me as a citizen and as a businessman.

As a citizen, the energy crisis affects my family and I on a day-to-day basis. There is no question that we as a country must develop nuclear power generating capabilities to the fullest extent in the shortest possible time to avoid economic blackmail from the OPEC nations.

As a businessman and an engineer, I have personally worked in the commercial and Navy nuclear fields for many years. Our company has serviced virtually all of the existing operating nuclear power plants in the l'aited States in the past six years. We must comply with 10CFR50, Appendix 3 as do all other contractors. We know that the plants are safe now and will be safer in the future.

The action taken by the NRC is, in our opinion, in the wrong direction. We trust that this action will be reviewed and reconciled in the immediate future.

Thank you for your consideration and action in this matter.

'I Yours truly, f,
