SUBJECT:
RUMOR OF BOMB THREAT At 11:30 a.m. today a Metropolitan Edison Company operator at Reading. Pennsylvania, received an anonyuous telephone call. The caller asked the operator about "the rumor that they were going.to bomb THI." which the caller had reportedly heard ycsterday and today. The caller then stated "Well, you better close it down," and abruptly ended th2 conversation.
The above call was procptly reported to the Station Security Manager, who notified the FBI, state police, and company management.
the licensee has initiated a 100% hands on search upon entry to the Protected Area and Vital Areas. All visitors and visitor vchicles will be given a detailed search upon entry to the owncr controlled area for the next few days.
No plant search is being rade at this time.
The NRC on-site staff was notified of this event at 1:00 p.ia. on December 7.1979.
Tne co monwealth of Pennsylvania has been notified.
Media interest is emccted because of continued high interest in site activities.
A press release is not planned by the licensee or NRC.
