Mr. Paul Collins Chief, Operator Licensing Branch United States Atomic Energy Commission Bethesda, Maryland

Dear Paul:

Let me take this opportunity to let you know that we appreciate the outstanding manner in which your staff recently conducted an evaluation of the B&W Simulator Training Program.

We were quite pleased to have Buck Bursey, Dave Roth, and George Manz in Lynchburg and feel that both E&W and the SMUD operating staff benefitted a great deal from their comprehensive audit program.

We received many valuable suggestions from them at the close of the examination and you can be assured that we vill take them into account in improving the quality of our trainire.

As I understand it now, the Operator Licensing Eranch is satisfied that the B&W Simulator Trainin6 Program is an acceptable program to meet operational requirements for a " cold" licensing examination.

I would appreciate confirmation from you to this effect.

We look f ard to continued contact and association with your staff.

Very truly yo, rs, r

J.' es C. Deddens Manager, Nuclear Service JCD/nv 80012000\\n
