Dear Mr. Berg:
Enclosed you will find the information requested regarding utilities opera-ting, building, or planning to build nuclear units with Babcock and Wilcox nuclear steam supply systems (reactors).
Although numerous utilities may own interests in a nuclear unit, the list enclosed has been simplified to identify only the lead licensee.
For example, Three Mile Island Unit 2 is divided between the three General Public Utilities Company subsidiaries: Metropolitan Edison Company (50%),
Pennsylvania Electric Company (25%), and Jersey Central Power and Light Company (25%).
It is my understanding that your study seeks to identify the financial impact of Three Mile Island on all utilities owning B&W units. Therefore, it is possible that you will want the listing of these minor owners I have described above.
If so, please contact me again. That information is avail-able but involves more research; if important to your study it can be compiled.
To add one further note of caution I will repeat what I noted on the telephone:
some utilities own different types of reactors at the same site, For example, Arkansas Nuclear One, Unit 1 is, as shown on the list, a B&W plant but Unit 2 is a Combustion Engineering reactor. This might make evaluation of financial impact on B&W utilities somewhat more complicated.
