Summary of Interview With David Barash Craig Burgaff Office of PA Consumer Advocate 8:30 a.m. - 9:30 a.m.
September 13, 1979 Harrisburg, PA P
Dave Barash was quoted in the April 16, 1979 Philadelphia Inquirer article.
Dave's quote in the article was incomplete in that he had told reporters that he had no evidence of any rush to complete TMI-2 by year end.
Both Dave and Craig work on Met Ed and Penelec rate cases respectively.
Dave felt that getting TMI-2 in rate base was the most important incentive --
more important than tax benefits.
Bob Rohr, who teaches at Brown University is an expert on rate structure and during one hearing mentioned to Barash that "one way or another the company will get TMI-2 running before end of year."
John Graham, the current treasurer of GPU, is a former public advocate for j
Hew Jersey, law professor at Rutgers and certainly knows pulse of CPU.
The U.S. District Attorney in Philadelphia may know about Gary and Boring, welders at TMI who alleged poor welding and graft in the Boilermakers union.
Also, a purchasing officer for either Catolytic or UE&C called Barash with horror stories about being ordered to order inferior materials.
Person is now retired and lives on West Shore, Pa.
John Hoffman, a former rate counsel for the New Jersey public advocate, knows GPU well. Mcffman and Graham wer' r"rworkers at public advocate's office.
