Subject:
Davis-Besse Nuclear Power Station Unit 1 Dual Level Setpoints on Steam Generators For Auxiliary Feedwater System
Dear A1:
At the meeting on this subject in your office on November 27, 1978, it was decided that',further'. analysis is required to support the safety evaluation of the proposed
- dual level control setpoints on the steam generators.
Please provide analysis and required stea generator levels for the following conditions:
1)
Loss of =ain feedwater flow with reactor coolant pumps running and the reactor at 15% power.
~
2)
Loss of offsite poyer incident and the effects on the pressuriter level at various power levels.
3)
Nor=al reactor trip at low power.
s
- 4),;Small breaks requiring high pressure injection pump operation with one reactor. coolant pump operating _ or with one or two reactor coolant pu=ps per loop operating.
5)
Rechecking of small break analysis (3AW-10,075A, Rev. 1),
considering interim operation and ulti= ate operation after the
$ dual.setpoint change has been installed.

6)
Your evaluation as to whether or not reactor coolant pu=p running status should be included in the dual setpoint control logic.
7)
Other analyses that B&W may find are necessary as a result of '
the above.
Please provide a schedule for these analyses and further definition of t.the extent of the analysis. *We have been asked by NRR NRC, to provide.
lthem.vich a written report to supporE continued. operation.(vich operator action) and operation after the dual level setpoint' change has been installed.
e Yours very truly, 0
