Dear Mr. Speaker:

This is in response to your letter dated December 4,1979, in which you requested, pursuant to the Freedom of Information Act, a copy of the summary of the results of the TMI resident whole body counting.

In response to your request, please find enclosed a copy of a memo dated August 2,1979 to George H. Smith from R. J. Bores

Subject:

" RESIDENT WHOLE BODY COUNTING AT TMI."

We are not aware of any official summary of the results of the TMI resident whole body counting. However, we do have a 31-page handwritten summary of certain data related to the counting.

The names of the individuals exposed to radiation have been deleted because disclosure of this information would constitute a clearly unwarranted invasion of personal privacy. This information is being withheld from.public disclosure pursuant to Exemption (6) of the Freedom of Information Act (5 U.S.C.

552(b)(6)) and 10 CFR 9.5(a)(6) of the Commission's regulations.

A copy

of the non-exempt portions of this document is enclosed.

Pursuant to 10 CFR 9.9 of the Commission's regulations, it has been determined that the information withheld is exempt from production or disclosure, and that its production or disclosure is contrary to the public interest.

The persons responsible for this denial are the undersigned and Mr. Victor Stello, Jr., Director, Office of Inspection and Enforcement.

This denial may be appealed to the Commission's Executive Director for Operations within 30 days from the receipt of this letter. As provided i
