Dear Mr. Pollock:
Tne Ccamission-has received your petition recuesting puolic hearings on "GPU's procesals" to release radioactive gases frca the contairment build-ing at Tnree I:ile Island, Unit 2.
We believe the proposals you refer tc are those made in a centractor report to GPU.
GPU is considering this recort and, we expect, will make a proposal to the Ccmmission,itnin the next three to six weeks. At that time the Commission's technical staff will co an incependcnt analysis of the GPU proposal, inclucing an environ-mental evaluation.
Tnis analysis will be published for public comment prior to any Ccamission ap;.roval of preposals to d"spose of radioactive gases in the TMI-2 c:ntainment.

After reviewing this caterial from its staff the Commission will be in a be::er positicn to deter;aine whether the actions your petition requests are necessary and aopropriate.
