RESPCNSE TO INSPECTICN REPORT 50-320/79-15 e
Notice of Violation Infraction A 10 CFR 50, Appendix 3, Criterion V, stater: " Activities affecting quality shall be pr, scribed by documented instructions...and shall be accocplished in accordance with these instructions..."
Licenum Procedure lkl0-Y-26 states in parag.aph 6.2.1:
" Area Preparation:
Shall be clear of a.

Contrary to the above on May 30, 1979 co=bustible trash and unnecessary.

This item is considered to be an infraction.
Corrective Action A The Superintendent of Construction, during this phase of Unit II recovery, has been instructed to ensure eccpliance with Maintenance Procedure lh10-Y-26,
"'4elding and Cutting Procedure for Fire Safety".
The area identified in the Lafraction was restored to acceptable conditions when identified by Mr. Koltay.
Subsequent inspections by plant personnel have shown this situation to be acceptable.
Ir. fraction B 10 CFR 50, Appendix 3, Criterion V, states: " Activities affecting quality shall be prescribed by docu=ented instructions...and shall be acco=plished in accordance with these instructions..."
Licensee Procedure lkl0-Y-26 states in paragraph 6.2.7: " Appropriate fire extinguishers shall be readily accessible at the work location".
Contrary to the above on May 30, 1979 velding operations vere in progress in the fuel storage area without fire extinguishers in the area.
This item is considered to be an irfraction.
Corrective Action 3 Responsible personnel have reinforced the velding and cutting permit program in the plant. Subsequent inspections of welding and cutting operations show this ites to be in co=pliance. To further reduce the possibility.of reccurance, fire extinguishers are now issued with 'the veld rod for velding jobs.
