'l NRC EMERGENCY PLANNING TASK FORCE TEAM WILL VISIT THE THREE MILE ISLAND NUCLEAR PLANT NEAR HARRISBURG, PENNSYLVANIA AND HOLD MEETING OPEN TO THE PUBLIC A team of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission Emergency Planning Task Force, which will visit every operating nuclear reactor site in the country to evaluate up-grading of the site's emergency planning since the Three Mile Island accident, will visit the Three Mile Island station near Harrisburg, Pennsylvania on September 24-28, 1979.

After visiting the site on September 24th, the Task Force Team will begin a Technical Review meeting with officials of the Metropolitan Edison Company at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 25th at Liberty Fire Company No.1, Adila and Emmaus Street, Middletown, Pennsylvania.

The meeting, which is open to observation by the public, will recess at 4:00 p.m.

and resume at 9:00 a.m. each day.

The meetings will conclude about noon on September 28, 1979.

From 8:00 to 9:00 p.m., September 26th there will be a period for public comments only on the subject of emergency planning.

Should time not permit all comments to be heard they may be submitted in writing to Mr. James R. Miller, Acting Assistant Director for Site and Safeguards, Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation, Nuclear Regulatory Conmission, Washington, D.C.

On the NRC Task Force Team are Frank Pagano, Jr., Director of the Task Force; and Jack Roe, team member from NRC Headquarters; Dale Donaldson, NRC Region I; and Harold Gaut, NRC Office of State Programs in Washington.

There are six teams on the Task Force, and they began visiting sites the week of September 17.

Visits to the nation's 70 licensed operating nuclear power plants are expected to be completed by mid-1980.
