Dear Mr. Seyf rit:

As stated in the referenced letter, corrective action to replace the shaf ts which drive the engine speed control governor and engine overspeed shutdown g,overnor was scheduled to be completed by September 30, 1978.

Cooper-Bessemer has advised us that it would be beneficial to delay replacing the shafts and springs until they replace the inlet and exhaust valve crosshead assemblics required by Significant Deficiency Report No.10 (ref. LPL 10233 to K.V. Seyfrit dated December 5,1978). In this way all the modifications could be done at This request by Cooper-Bessemer is acceptable for Waterford 3 based on once.

For your information and based on discussions with Cooper-Bessemer personnel, it is our understanding that work to replace the subject shafts and springs has not been completed at any other location.

As discussed with your personnel, we will now submit the final report for Significant Deficiency No. 6 by August 31, 1979; the same date as has been committed for Significant Deficiency No. 10.
