d ENCLOSURE SEQUOYAH NUCLEAR PLANT REVISED
SUMMARY
PAGE FOR NUREG-0588 RESPONSE 1.
Inside Containment a.
There are no open items for Category a and b equipment.
b.
There are three open items for Category c equipment. The ASCO solenoid valves are being replaced with fully qualified units. The ventilation fan motors are being analyzed to determine the maximum allowable ambient service conditions.
This equipment does not perform a safety function; therefore, no replacement is required before full power operation.
2.
Annulus a.
The two solenoid valves have been replaced with fully qualified units.
b.
The Barton Model 288A Differential Pressure Switches are being modified. The Robertshaw Model 445ElP I/P Transducers are being relocated. This work will be completed before exceeding 5 percent power.
c.
The Comsip hydrogen analyzer was qualified for an accident (one year integrated) dose only and is being analyzed to determine effects of additional normal dose. Preliminary analysis results justify safe plant operation with the "in situ" equipment.
How-ever, autoclave testing on similar components will be performed to verify acceptability of equipment.
3.
Outside containment a.
Equipment subjected to adverse environments caused by HELB lacking qualification was identified and replaced or moved, b.
There are a number of items lacking sufficient documentation
~
_to determine the exact qualified service condition envelopes.
A number of pump motors and fan motors, as well as a few other components fall into this category (see last part of reviews in section D).
TVA.is pursuing adequate documentation of the environmental qualification of these items.
Preliminary information indicates that-the equipment is qualified and this is primarily a " paper" problem.
