20555 Docket No. 50-312 Rancho Seco Nuclear Generating Station, Unit No.1

Dear Mr. Reid:

Your letter of November 19, 1979, requested additional infor-mation on Containment Purge and Vent Systems and contained six items.

M District responded to Items 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 in ou. January 24, 1980 l e i.te r.

The purpose of this letter is to complete our response by answering Item No. 6.

Item No. 6 requested the following information:

" Provide an analysis of the reduction in containment pressure resulting from the partial loss of containment atmosphere during the accident for ECCS backpressure determination. "

This analysis may be found in Section 14.3.8.2 of the F5AR. The analysis shows that only 1/300 of the containment atmosphere would be released thould a LOCA occur during a reactor building purge. The containment pressure reduction is directly proportional to the amount of containment atmosphere released. The containment pressure for ECCS backpressure determination is

.therefore reduced by 1/300.

If you have any questions, please contact Larry Smith on (916) 452-3211, extension 621.

Sincerely, Wm. C. Walbridge g
