Alabama Power Company is in the process of finalizing plcns for an  ;

instrumentation system to relate reactor vessel water level to inadequate core cooling for its Farley Unit 2. Prior to receipt of an operating. license, Alabama Power Company will provide the following concerning this instrumenta-tica system

1. A commitment to install a level system with appropriate system )

description (a system other than differential pressure may be utilized.) l l

2. An installation schedule for the level system.

3. A testing schedule for the level system. l l

4. A commitment to provide contingency plans, possibly including alternative equipment, if the level system cannot be shown to properly relate to inadequate core cooling.

5. The present operability requirement date of January 1,1981 will be addressed.
