20555 Attention: Mr. A. Schwencer TMI-2 ACTION PLAN ITEMS JOSEPH M. FARLEY NUCLEAR PLANT - UNIT 2 Gentlemen:
In response to Action Plan Item II.D.1, Alabama Power Company will participate in the EPRI/NSAC PWR Safety a-d Relief Valve performance verification test program. Alabama Power Company will monitor the program to assure that the test results are applicable to the specific plant design for Plant Farley and provide sufficient information to qualify the plant specific valves and associated piping and support under expected operating conditions for design basis transients and accidents.
Upon completion of the test program, Alabama Power Company will submit evidence to the NRC of the operability of the safety and relief valves installed at Plant Farley.
If the exact valves used at Farley are not tested, a correlation bets een the valves tested and the Farley valves will be submitted.
In addition to the evidence submitted for the safety and relief valves, Alabama Power Company will submit evidence to qualify the Plant Farley block valves under expected operating conditions for design basis transients and accidents by January 1, 1982.
