Marble Hill Nuclear Generating Station - Units 1 and 2 1 l

IE Bulletin 80-08

Dear Mr. Keppler:

In response to IE Bulletin No. 80-08, Public Service Company of Indiana, Inc., (PSI) has determined that Marble Hill will contain penetrations of the design discussed in the subject Bulletin. These penetrations will be installed in accordance with the 1977 ASME B&PV Code with addenda thru the Winter of 1977. In addit!nn, PSI has comitted to Regulatory Guide 1.19 in the Marble Hill PSAR. These penetrations will be butt velded without backing bars, the pipe material will be SA-350 Gr. LF-1 for both type 1 and 2 penetrat Lons, type 1 penetration sleeves will be 34 and 58 inches in diameter ano type 2 penetration sleeves will be 22, 24, 30, 34 and 60 inches in diameter. As installation of these penetrations has not tak u place, nondestructive examinations have not been perfomed and results are not available.

PSI will perform radiographic examination of type 1 and type 2 ilued head penetrations. The design of type 3 flued head penetrations does not. permit radiographic examination and therefore UT and/or MT examination will be pecformed on type 3 penetrations.
