Gentlemen:
Our letter of May 9, 1980 stated, in response to deficiency 313/80-05-02, that Generation and Construction Department procedures would be changed to provide for an adequate review of all Design Change Packages (DCP) per 10CFR50.59. Our review of the procedures, however, has shown that the current procedures are adequate to insure a proper review of DCP's in accordance with 10CFR50.59.
The deficiency does, however, indicate a need to inform those who do the review of the requirements for retention and performance of a written safety evaluation. To accu aplish this, a memo has been sent from the Manager, Licensing to those Licensing Section personnel responsible for performing DCP reviews. This memo stated the requirements of 10CFR50.59 for the retention atA performance of written safety evaluation, elong with the Notice of Volation for deficiency 313/80-05-02. This should prevent further noncogliance.
