Dear Mr. Grier:
This letter is in response to Inspection and Enforcement Bulletin No. 80-08, " Examination of Containment Liner Penetration Welds".
We have reviewed the Jamesport Nuclear Power Station design and l
have the following information:
l 1.
The Jamesport units contain the flued head design for penetrations as illustrated in #igure NEll20-1, Winter 1975 Addenda to the 1974 ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code.

a.
The penetrations will be fabricated to ASME Section III, 1971 edition including adder.da through Sumn.er 1973, and in accordance with Regulatory Guide 1.19.
j b.
The butt welds will be radiographed if possible.
However, if the welds cannot be radiographed in a meaningful manner, ultrasonic examination will be performed as permitted in Section NE5231.1 of the Summer 1972 Addenda.
c.
The joints are butt welded using backing bars.

SA-516 Grade 60 or SA-333 Grade 6 28",
35", and 48" O.D.
SA-537 Grade B Forgings for Piping Penetrations Material Carbon Steel SA-508 Class 1 Stainless Steel SA-182 Type 304 or 316 d.
The plant is not in construction, therefore, no physical examinations have been performed.

We will perform rediographic examination if possible of these welds and the schedule of performance will be determined at a later date and submitted at the appropriate time.
