Dear Sir:

In 1977 Vermont Yankee performed a f easibility study investigating possible pathways for releases of radioactivity from the plant. This study focused on nonradioactive systems which could potentially become contaminated through interface with radioactive systems.

I As a result of this study, measures were undertaken to preclude rny uncontrolled releases from the plant or contaminatfor. of nonradioactise systems. These measures included the addition of administrative controls, operating procedure revisions, hardware modifications, installation of process radiation monitors, and an expanded sampling program. As a result of these efforts, we have not experienced any problems relative to the concerns expressed in reference (b), and feel that the controls in place

are adequate to prevent them from happening in the future.
