July 1, 1980 Mr. Rex B. Purcell Contract Administrator Department of Energy Nevada Operations Office P.

O. Box 14100 Las Vegas, NV 89114

Dear Mr. Purcell:

Thank you for your letter of May 21, 1980, with the schedule options for the Radiological Emergency Response Operations courses for FY-81.

This is to inform you that we choose option 1 (16 courses).

As you are aware, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is to assume responsibility for these training programs beginning in FY-81.

In order to do this, the NRC must send a Letter of Determination to the Office of Management and Budget, requesting transfer of appropriate funds from NRC to FEMA.

This has not yet been done.

We have, however, checked with FEMA and that agency is in agreement with the 16-course schedule; there fore, regardless of who has the funding and responsibility, option 1 will be chosen.

Sincerely,

]
