" MEETING
SUMMARY
HATCH MK 1 LTP" On July 3,1980, members of the staff met with representatives of Georgia Fower Company (licensee) in Betheda, Maryland. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the licensee's schedule for completing modifications to Eatch Units Nos.1 and 2 for resolution of the MK 1 containment long term p rcgram. The results of the meeting are summarized below.
The licensee described the type of modifications that have been ccmpleted sa far and are planned during the next two refueling outages for each Hatch Unit (see attachment 1). Notwithstanding any later identified modifications that may be required to satisfy the MK 1 LTP accentance criteria, Hatch Unit 2 mocifications should be completed by the end of the Fall 1981 outage; Hatch 1 55culd be completed by the end of the Spring 1932 cutage.
The licensee ex;1ained that this schedule attempts to optimira ha 'ne of necessary cratis particularly in view of other actions required to satisfy the staff's addit onal TMI-2 related activities.
The members of the staff indicated that the schedule is a definite improvement over that implied in the licensee's May 14, 1980 submittal which implied a crpletion date of December 1982. The staff requested that the licensee provide documentation of his detailed schedule.
This submittal should include:
a)
Forcast of refueling outage dates, b) identification of actions to be completed during each outage, c) an estimate of the strengthened configuration of the containment prior to installation of T quenchers, d) a justification of why his proposed schedule optimizes the MK 1 LTP
- solution, e) a description of the precautions that are being taken to avoid unstable condensation loads, and f) the relationship between these efforts and other actions being taken because of our TMI-2 related concerns.
