Dear Mr. MacDonald:
Nuclear Assurance Corporation hereby requests that Certificate of Compliance No. 6698, Revision 10, dated June 19, 1980, be revised to provide some schedular flexibility in the performance of inner shell measurements and to include a prenotification requirement to the NRC of when and where the measurement operations are planned. Specifically, we request Paragraph 14 of Certificate 6698, Revision 10, be changed to:
- 14. At nominal intervals of six (6) months, but no longer than seven (7) months, commencing no later than seven (7) months following the first shipment of irradiated fuel under Revision No. 9 and later revisions, to Certificate of Compliance No. 6698, the licensee shall perform physical measurements of the cask inner shell. Any cask whose inner container dimensions are measured to deviate by more than
- 0.015 inch at comparable points from the dimensions documented in Appendix C to NAC letter dated June 8,1979, shall be removed from service.
Notification of the location and date at least two (2) weeks before the measurement operations are to be performed shall be given to the Chief, Transportation Certification Branch, Division of Fuel Cycle and j
Material Safety, Nuclear Regulatory Commission.
In accordance with the schedule of fees published on Page 7223 of the Federal Register, Volume 4, Number 35, dated February 21, 1978, enclosed is a check in the amount of $150.00 for this administration amendment.
