SUBJECT:
DSI COMMENTS ON ANSI /ANS 56.2 In response to W. M. Morrison's memorandum dated April 17, 1980, the Contain-ment Systems Branch, Division of Systems Integration has reviewed draft ANSI /
ANS 56.2, " Containment Isolation Provisions for Fluid Systems," dated Janu-ary 28, 1980. With regard to ballot action on the standard, we reccamend APPROVE with cocrents; our comments are those being forwarded to the working group by Guy A. Arlotto.
In addition, we have two comments regarding the proposed Regulatory Guide 1.141,
" Containment Isolation Provisions for Fluid Systems," Revision 1, May,1980:
1.
The proposed Regulatory Guide 1.141, Revision 1, dated May 1980, references the June 1976 version of the standard. We recommend that the Regulatory Guide be updated to reflect the latest version of ANSI /AUS 56.2, when the standard is formally approved.
2.
The Implementation section states that all operating reactors must be capable of isolating containment upon a high radiation signal hv Janu-ary 1, 1981. Revision 3 of the TMI task action plan (!!UREG-0550) does not provide a date for this recuirement. The appropriateness and basos far this date should be reviewed.
