Gentlemen:

g We have received your letter dated May 29, 1980, concerning the survey and release of 1,200 pounds of molybdenum scrap formerly used as boats to transfer low-enriched uranium pellets through your sintering furnaces. As discussed in the telephone conversation on June 24, 1980, with Messrs. Reitler and Sanders, we request that you not release the molybdenum urtil the Region II Office of Inspection and Enforcement has had the opportunity to make an independent evaluation. We will notify you as to the disposition of the molybdenum after we receive the results of the evaluation by the regional office.
