Subject:

REACTOR BUILDING PURGC STATL'.

Purging of the reactor building atmosphere utili:ing the modified hydrogen control (MHC) system continued at various system flow rates based on meteorolocical condition. f;cmenta rj

.hutdow15 Ote occurred due to stack monitor filter changeuuts.

In addition, at approw.atei 6:20 a.m. the system was shutdown due tu a high alarm on :ne purge systerr r.nnitur (lip-R.!?M noble gas channel.

The reason for this alanu is under review.

Maximum purge system flow rate was approximately 540 cim, while stack t iew rate averaged appror.inately 105,000 cfm in the past 24 hours2.777778e-4 days
0.00667 hours
3.968254e-5 weeks
9.132e-6 months
.

lotal calculated radioactivity PPleased as ut /:00 a.m. was 29,877 Ci based on stack flow rate and rr.eae.ured stack concentration.

Remainir.g concentration in the reactor buildiny based on the last buildir.9 sample was analyzed at 0.26 uCi/cc (14.896 Ci, total).

The multi-channel analy7er continues to be in operation anc indicates no particulate activity being emitted.

Utili:ction et the modified reactor building purgo system (MPS) tar a t.nter purge rate is to be o;:e.raticr.s! later tuday, Additional reports nn reactor building purging will be updated on a daily basis durir.:; the initi.i stages of purging. The NRC Region 1 mobile laboratory will continue to be used to verify the licensee's analytical results.

Media interest has occurred because of public sensitivity to this evolution and 'M1 'claten events. The Conwonwealth of Pennsylvania has :conitored these events.

NKC has rae.panded tu inquiries. The NRC IMI Program Office staff has munitored evente. as they oetur en a P4 nour basis.
