Dear Mr. Sherwood:

SUBJECT:

REVIEW 0F GENERAL ELECTRIC TOPICAL REPORT NEDE-24010-P, " TECHNICAL BASES FOR THE USE OF THE SQUARE ROOT OF THE SUM 0F SQUARES (SRSS)

METHOD FOR COMBINING DYNAMIC LOADS FOR MARK II PLANTS" We have completed our review of the General Electric Company proprietary topical report NEDE-24010-P, " Technical Bases for the Use of the Square Root of the Sdm of Squares (SRSS) Method for Combining Dynamic Loads for Mark II Plants," and the non-proprietary version NED0-24010 having the same title as well as Supplements 1 through 3 to NED0-24010.

Based on our review, we conclude that this topical report, as supplemented, is acceptable for reference in license applications subject to the restrictions discussed in the enclosed staff evaluation and. regulatory position.

It should be noted that any reference to the proprietary report in a license application should be accompanied by a reference to the non-proprietary version.

The staff does not intend to repeat its review of NEDE-24010-P and NED0-24010 when the reports appear as references in specific license applications, er. cept to assure that the reports are applicable to the specific plants involved.

Should NRC criteria or regulations change such that our conclusions as to the acceptability of the report are invalidated, General Electric and/or the referencing applicants will be expected to revise and resubmit the topical report and the referencing document or submit justification for the continued effective applicability of the topical report without revision.

In accordance with established procedure, it is requested that General Electric issue revised versions of NEDE-24010-P and NED0-24010 to include any supple-mentary information provided for our review of the report, this acceptance letter, and the enclosed staff evaluation.

Sincerely, f,[ ORIGINAL SIGNED BYa
