Dear Sir:

In response to IE Bulletin No. 80-09, Public Service Company of Indiana, Inc., (PSI) has determined that ITT General Controls (ITT-GC) Hydramotor Actuators are planned for use in safety-related equipment on the Marble Hill Project. However, the Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM's) d'.scussed in the subject Bulletin will not utilize incorrect spring material in Marble Hill actuators having greater than a three (3) inch stroke.

The OEM's have used methods other thun the ITT-GC Selection Komograph to size actuators for use on safety-related equipme.it. The OEM's assure that the actuators will perform their intended functions by either factory testing the actuators to meet listed minimum force outputs or by specifying the ,

actuators with a gross stem thrust which is several l'undred pounds more than the required thrust.

In light of the actions described above it vill not be necessary to modify equipment qualification or test programs to demonstrate functional adequacy of the Hydramotor Actuators. If you have any questions on this report, please feel free to contact me.
