Y Enclosure Response to IE Bulletin 80-09 Dresden Station Units 1, 2 and 3 1.
The investigation of activities on Unit 2 and 3 has resulted in determination that no safety-related system or component in these facilities use AH-90 or NH-90 series Hydramotor Actuators.
2.
The investigation of actuators on Unit 1 had identified two applications of ITT-GC Hydramotor actuators:
(a)
The Unit 1 "A" and "B"
heating boilers employs HO actuators, which are not identified as deficient in the subject Bulletin; (b)
The Unit 1 HPCI ventilation system employs ITT NH-90 series actuators to operate ventilation dampers.
The subject system is under construction and is not yet in service.
The design actuator spring material is being reviewed, and a verification program for margin with respect to thrust capability for long term operation will be completed.
Because this unit is currently in an extended outage and is not expected to return to service until June, 1986, sufficient time is available to resolve this issue.
Appropriate modifications and tests will be completed prior to Unit 1 being returned to service.
Quad Cities Station Units 1 and 2 The investigation of actuators on Unit 1 and 2 has resulted in the determination that no safety-related system or component in these facilities use AH-90 or NH 90 series Hydramotor actuators.
Zion Station Units 1 and 2 The ITT-GC actuators mentioned in the above referenced bulletin are not used at Zion Station.
All MOV's are of the Limitorque type, except eight Ramcon type used in the service water back wash system.
Zion's ventilation systems are pneumatically controlled except for some electrically operated dampers using small Honeywell units.
None of the maintenance departments (mechanical, electrical or instrument) have any records indicative of use or service of this type of unit.
The storeroom master vendor card file, containing part information for all equipment at the station, has no record of ITT-GC.
1
4 h' LaSalle County Station Units 1 and 2, Byron Station Units 1 and 2, and Braidwood Station Units 1 and 2 Since these units are curently under construction and component records are as yet incomplete, vendor inquiries were required to completely address the subject Bulletin.
Completion of the review will be accomplished in early - July and a final submittal made by July 18, 1980.
