Dear Mr. Carlson:

In response to your letter dated April 2, 1980, forwarding the subject inspection report, our letter dated April 28, 1980, was submitted in accordance with 10CFR2.201.

The reply addressed the actions taken as a result of the noted noncompi.iance - the failure to follow procedures and perform station housekeeping tours.

Following discussions with the NRC Resident Inspector concerning our reply, the following actions are being taken:

1.

The option of the Station Superintendent to waive the formal house-keeping tours will be deleted from the housekeeping procedure.

2.

During heavy construction activities, Construction Safety Inspectors will be required to conduct housekeeping tours in accordance with Chapter 1, Section J, of the Beaver Valley Power Station Maintenance Manual to supplement the required facilities inspection tours. Prc-blem areas that are identified on the construction tour reports will be reviewed and investigated for resolution.

3.

Dependent upon the magnitude of maintenance and/or construction activities, housekeepin, tour frequencies will be adjusted as plant conditions dictate.
