On December 5,1974, we reported to Mr. Norman C. Moseley, Director, Directorate of Regulatory Operations, Region II, an environmental occurrence at Arkansas Nuclear One-Unit 1 involving fish impingement on the intake screens in excess of the Environmental Technical Speci-fications reporting requirements.

Attached is our report as required by Environmental Technical Speci-fication 5.6.2.

Description of Occurrence:

During routine fish impingement monitoring 12/4/74, using procedure 1607.10 (Monitoring Fish Impinge'd on ANO Intake Screens), 6134 pounds of fish were collected during an 8-hour sample period.

The proj'ected

' fish kill for the 24-hour period beginning at 8:00 a.m.12/4/74 and ending at 8:00 a.m. 12/5/74 was 18,402 pounds based on the 8 hour9.259259e-5 days <br />0.00222 hours <br />1.322751e-5 weeks <br />3.044e-6 months <br /> sample. A mixture of gizzard and threadfin shad made up 99.7% of the total weight of fish. Other fish made up.3% of the total weight.

Threadfin shad node up 97% of the total number of shad.
