Gentlemen:

Enclosed please find a proposed change to the Arkansas Nuclear One-Unit 1 Technical Specifications for your review and approval. This proposed change contains revised heatup and cooldown curves and techni-cal specification changes based on the results of Babcock and Wilcox's j

examination of the surveillance capsule (ANI-E) which was withdrawn in the Spring of 1976. As supportive documentation, find.nclosed BAW-1440.

This proposed change is submitted pursuant to Technical Specification 3.1.2.7 which requires that updated technical specifications be submitted for your review at least 90 days prior to exceen g 1.7 X 106 thennal megawatt - days of operation. At this time, we expect to reach this level of burnup during mid-October 1977. Therefore, we request that this proposal receive your approval and be returned to us prior to October 1, 1977.
