50-313/72-10 Environmental Monitoring Program s
Gentlemen:
We have reviewed your letter dated December 8,1972, concerning deficien ~
cies in our environmental monitoring program at Arkansas Nuclear One. We submit the following information in response to the items identified in the enclosure to the above referenced letter:
All conflicts between the environmental monitoring program, as implemented, and the Unit 1 FSAR have been corrected by Amend-ments Number 31 and 32. Full compliance with the FSAR was estab-lished with Amendment Number 32, issued November 30, 1972.
Since Amendment Number 21, dated September 27, 1971, was issued describing the environmental radiological surveillance program, it became evident thac some improvement could be made in the program by installing thermoluminescent dosimeters (TLD's) in place of ion chamber dosimeters and film badges.
This change was reviewed and approved by Arkansas Nuclear One plant personnel and Little Rock Production Department personnel prior to the instal-lation of the TLD's. Unfortunately, th's.:hange was implemented before the FSAR could be revised to rerlect this change.
Other pf changes were brought about by changes in that portion of the
(
)
program under the control of the Arkansas State Department of Health - Bureau of Environmental Services.
These changes in the' I

Mr, John' G. Dwis in the program were also implemented before the FSAR could be revised to reflect these changes.
The environmental monitoring program i.s now well established and no further changes are anticipated. Every effort vill be made to keep the FSAR as current as possible in order to prevent a re-occurrence of this type of discrepancy.
Very truly yours, f
