7. Description of Occurrence:

s-At approximately .15:30 hours, a leak was discovered on the Primary Makeup Pump P36C 1/2 inch casing drain line where the drain line is threaded into the casing discharge nozzle. The crack extended around approxi-mately 3/4 of the pipe circumference. The drain line was removed and a 7 threaded plug was temporarily installed until a new line could be fabri-cated and installed.  :

It is believed that this failure is due to improper fitup of the threaded .

section of the casing drain line. An investigation is in progress to determine if there are any other contributing causes.

9. Analysis of Occurrence:

The P36C outage was of a much shorter duration than that allowable as C,,') defined in Technical Specification 3.3.5. There were no safety impli- '-

cations or hazards to the public safety involved.

10. Corrective Action:

A new casing drain line pipe section was fabricat'ed and installed. The proper fitup of the threaded portion was verified. A vibration analysis ,2 of the pipe section in question is being initiated to determine if there are any abnormal vibrations in the vicinity of the crack.
