Dear Mr. Giambusso:
This letter is in response to Mr. DeYoung's request of January 10, 1973 concerning the District's schedule for submitting additional information previously requested by your staff. The referenced questions required several meetings to resolve the type of calculations required and resulted in extensive reanalysis. The methods used were also dependent upon a timely review by your staff of the Babcock & Uilcox ECCS submittal.
With regard to Mr. DeYoung's letter of July 13, 1972, the District wishes to advise you at this time that a flow restrictor will be installed in the core flooding nozzle to restrict the magnitude of the blowdown and retain more water in the reactor vessel.
The District intends to provide the required analysis for this modi-fication by March 15, 1973. It is also our intent to submit the information requested in Mr. DeYoung's letter of October 27, 1972 by March 15. 1973.
Since we have held discussions with your staff concerning both of these subjects and our proposed responses, we do not feel that the licensing raview schedule should be significantly affected if the final analysis is submitted by this date.
