Dear Mr. Giambusso:

This letter is to confirm the agreements reached at a meeting on July 31, 1973 in Bethesda, Maryland between the Atomic Energy Commission and the Sacramento Municipal Utility District.

The following are the changes to the Final Safety Analysis Report and the control scheme for the emergency diesel engines which were agreed to at the meeting:

The wording relative to the emergency diesel engine and

generator breaker trips, and the engine starting interlocks

- 'I will be revised to clarify the actual operation of the control and protective schemes.

Page No. 8.2-8b:

The wording relative to the source of AC power for the emergency diesel generator auxiliaries will be revised to clearly indicate that AC power is not needed to start the emergency diesel engines.

2.

Control Scheme for the Emergency Diesel Engines:

The emergency diesel engine control schemes will be revised to give the following actions:

1 A.

The engine shutdown relays will be automatically reset on a safety features actuation.

l B.

The engine emergency manual shutdown switch contacts will be blocked on a safety features actuation to prevent the operation of these switches from overriding the SFAS signal and stopping the diesel engines.
