FACILITY: Davis Besse, Unic 1 (DB-1)

We have completed our evaluaticn of tornado missile protection for the BWST at DB-1 as requested in your memorandum (Serial No: IE-Co0-75-B) to V. !! core, Assistant Director for Light Water Reactors, Group 2, RL, dated June 4, 1975 The 2.nconsistencies as noted by the ROII inspector for DB-1 have been corrected by the Toledo Edison Company (TECO) in !cendment No. '2 to the Application or Revision 16 to the FSAR, dated October 1975.

Branch Technical Position, 1AB 3-2, Tornado Desi2n Classification, Standard Review Plan dated November 24, 1975, does not require the BWST to be designed to withstand the effects of the design basis tornado, including tornado missiles.

On January 29, 1976, the !"d2 staff met with TECO to evaluate the tornado missile protection provided by the facility design.

In response to a question from TECO, the NRR staff stated that no tornado missile pro-tection is required for the BWST.
