Dear Dr. Laurence:
The Toledo Edison Company, Toledo, Ohio, and he Cleveland Electric Illuminating Company, Cleveland, Ohio, have filed an application for a construction permit and facility license to authorize construction and eperation of a pressurized water nuclear reactor on the applicar.ts' site on the southwest shore of Lake Erie, approximately twenty-one miles east of Toledo, in Ottawa County, Ohio.
i He proposed reactor, designated as the Davis-3 esse Nuclear Power Station, is designed for initial operation at approximately 2633 megawatts thermal, with a net electrical output of approximately 872 megavetts. Earliest and latest construction completion dates are estimated by the applicants to be April 1,1974 and April 1, 1975, respectively.
A copy of the application, which includes gaaeral information and Volumes 1, 2 and 3 of the Preliminary Safety Analysis Report, is enclosed. Also enclosed is a copy of a related notice which has been forwarded to the Office of the Federal Register for filing and publication.
