Dear Dr. Knuth:
This letter is submitted as an Interim Report regarding the Davis-Besse Nuclear Power Station Unit No. I high pressure injection pump motor starting torque deficiency related by telecon to Mr. W. E. Vetter, Directorate of Regulatory Operations, Region III on April 25,1974.
The above motors have been returned to Westinghouse for test and repair as may be necessary. Initial tests have been performed and limited repair work initiated. A defm' itiw report of the deficiency, analysis of the safety implications, and the corrective action being taken will be submitted to yont office in accord with 10CFR Part 50.55 upon completion of our study of this problem.
