(,0llDUITS FOR DAVIS BESSE, UNIT 1 A meeting was held on October 28, 1976 in Bethesda, Maryland between the staff and representatives of the Toledo Edison Company where the subject of electrical cable separation criteria was discussed.
In that discussion, you stated that safety redundant electrical cable conduits are either in contact or in close proximity to each other which is in nonconformance to your present design criteria. We indi-cated at the meeting that we would ao.ise you on our position regarding tnese r. utters.
On ilovember 1,1976, '4r. L. Engle, Licensing Project "anager, notified Mr. L. Roe, Assistant Vice President and 'luclear Project "anager, that our position is that no safety redundant electrical cable conduits shall be in contact.
This letter is a followup to the events described above It is the staff position that safety redundant electrical cable conduits shall be separated by at least 1 inch. Where conduits are secarated by less than 1 inch a flame retardant barrier shall be provided such as 1/2 inch thick abestos free Marinite or Kawool thermal blankets (your criteria).
We request that you advise us of your conformance to our position as stated above within five days receipt of this letter. The Davis Besse.
Unit 1 FSAR should be revised to reflect conformance to our position.
