SUBJECT:
Model No.
NP-50-xxL Packaging Docket No.
Dear Gentlemen:
Per our conversation of May 30, 1980 we have revised the 71-9130 submittle.
You will note that we have deleted the stainless steel liner and included a full scale drop test report.
The primary purpose of this Safety Analysis Report is to demonstrate the compliance of five existing NP50-2.5L casks.
These caskswere manufactured from A-36 carbon steel.
Included in Appendix 1.10.3 is a test report on one of the five packages.
A drop from 125% of the required height produced only local deformation.
Both the cask and the fully loaded internal liner maintained there original leak tight integrity.
We respectfully request that a Certificate of Compliance be issued specifically for these five casks.
A separate safety Analysis Report will be submitted shortly for the basic NP-50-xxL MOD I family.
All casks of the MOD 1 configur.;2.on will be manufactured from A516-Grade 70 steel.
Should you have additional questions please call.
Thank you for your continued support."
l Sincerely yours, NUCLEAR PA KAGING, INC.
