April 23,1980 Fort St. Vrain Unit No. 1 P-80085 Mr. Karl V. Seyfrit, Director Nuclear Regulatory Commission Region IV Office of Inspection and Enforcement Suite 1000 Arlington, Texas 76012

Reference:

IE Bulletin No.79-03A Docket No. 50-267

Dear Mr. Seyfrit:

PSC has conducted a review of all the piping specifications at Fort St.

Vrain and has determined that SA-312 or A-312 Type 300 Series fusion welded pipe is not presently in use and will not be used in future safety related or non-safety related installations by PSC or our contractors.

Our piping specifications do nc,t allow the use of this type of pipe or any other type of seamed stainless steel piping in any of the Fort St.

Vrain systems.

We consider that'this action resolves the concerns of the NRC relative to IE Bulletin 79-03A and is consistent with our original response to IE Bulletin 79-03.

Very truly yours, Frederic E. Swa t Nuclear Project Manager FES:pa 9007020 iO
