I am responding to your letter of by 13, bdC,"
[:h you requested a separate MILDOS computer output for the Pioneer Umvan, Inc., San Miguel are buying station. As your letter indicates, the proposed ore buying station would be located at the same site as the proposed mill pmject.

your previous technical assistance request.
Althe @ the radiological impacts from the are buying station would be a subset of those from the whole mill, resource limitations prevent us from perforwing a detailed analysis of the are buying station alone.
,f However, since our radiological assessment for the whole mill proixt is.
under preparation at this time, ny staff has been able to examine the preliminary results and estinate the percent of doses to nearby individuals and the concentrations at site boundaries which result from ore buying station activities. The attached tables present our estimates.
Based on the calculations, it is estimated that the contributions b total doses which result from the are buying station wmid be a maximum of 55*. of the doses which result from the entire mill project. Calculated doses for the mill pmject were well within the EPA limit of 25 millirem f40 CFR 190); therefore, doses received frou the ore buying station steeld cause no problan in tems of compliance with the standard.
Air concentrations of radioactive materials in unrestricted areas are limited under 10 CFR Part 20 to certain maximum permissible concentmtions (MPCs). The staff's assessment of Pioneer's proposed mill proje:t includes evaluation of coupliance with MPC limits at those site boundaries j
found to have the highest concentrations. Concentrations at all locations are found to be within WC limits for individual isotopes and thz sum of fractions. As you are well aware,10 CFR 20 requires that the. 's of fractions of isotope concentrations may not exceed 1 at any unrestricted area location. The largest sum of fractions calculated in the evaluation l

2-JUN 161980 Albert J. Hazle of the entire mill was 7.26E-02 at a boundary location.5 km northeast of the mill. The staff estimates that the sum of fractions resulting fran ore buying station activities will not exceed 62% of this maximum value and; therefore, will be well within MPC limits.
I hope this information will be of some help in hwr evaluation of W associated with the Pioneer. ore buying station.
