(v,/

JUN 131980 DOCKET NO.:

70-2885 APPLICANT:

Commonwealth Edison FACILITY:

La Salle County Nuclear Power Station, Unit 2

SUBJECT:

LICENSE AMENDMENT APPLICATION DATED APRIL 3,1980

Background

Commonwealth Edison is licensed under NRC Materials License l'o. SNM-1833 for the receipt and storage of fuel and accessories for eventual use in the La Salle County Nuclear Power Station, Unit 2.

The license is scheduled to expire September 30, 1980.

By application dated April 3,1980, the licensee has requested an extension of the expiration date to March 31, 1982.

Discussion The licensee advises that because of construction and licensing delays associated with the project, the NRC has extended the construction permit so that the latest completion date is now March 31, 1982.

It is noted that extending the expiration date does not affect the radiological safety, nuclear safety, or other parameters on which the issuance of the license was based.

Recommendation On the basis of the above, I recommend that the license extension, as requested by Commonwealth Edison, be approved.
