Nuclear Regulatory Commission 631 Park Avenue King of Prussia, PA 19406 Jamesport Nuclear Power Station - Units 1 & 2 Inspection and Enforcement Bulletin No. 80-05 Docket Nos. 50-516 50-517

Dear Sir:

This letter is submitted in response to Inspection and Enforce-ment Bulletin No. 80-05, " Vacuum Condition Resulting in Damage to Chemical Volume Control System (CVCS) Holdup Tanks".

The Jamesport Nuclear Power Station engineering activities have been curtailed at a point whereas the detail design data requested in this bulletin is not available. Accordingly, the review of the subject systems cannot be performed at this time. In addition, the current schedule is such that the engineering and design efforts will not restart in the near future. Nevertheless, at an appropriate time upon reactivation of engineering, a review of the plant design will be performed to identify all systems that contain low pressure or holdup tanks that can be valved to contain primary system water. Each system identified will be evaluated to insure that adequate measures have been taken to protect against vacuum conditions that could result in tank damage with potential release of radioactive material or detri-mental effect to overall plant safety. The measures provided l to protect this system against vacuum conditions will be described in the applicable portions of the Jamesport FSAR.

Should you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact this office.

Very truly yours,
