Dear fdrd:

~

Our Office of Inspection and inforcement has received an allegation that a company in Orange, California may be distributing imported tritium gun sights without an exempt distribution ("E") license from NRC or a California State license authorizing possession (Enclosure). We have confirmed that the company, Single Point Day / Night Gunsights, has neither an import license nor an "E" iicense from NRC.

We request California's assistance in pursuing this matter, specifically to determine if they possess radioactive materials, the nature of the distribution and their status as a licensee of California.

If the company does not possess materials, but has the material transhipped from the foreign supplies to other recipients, they would need an import license from NRC.

We would appreciate being kept informed of your actions so that we can assure the alleger that this matter will be resolved.

Sincerely, p'

G. Way ie Kerr, Assistant Director for State Agreements Program Office of State Programs
