u De Mr. fiacDonald:

\\D CERTIFICATE OF COMPLIANCE NO. 6387 FOR THE MODEL 60 RADI0 ACTIVE MATERIAL SHIPPING CONTAINER - EXPIRATI0tl JUflE 30, 1980 Enclosed are eigh* copies of the latest Safety Analysis Report for Packaging (TC-138, Rev.1) for the HEDL Model 60 Unirradiated Fissionable fiaterial Shipping Container. These Safety Analysis Reports for Packaging (SARPs) contain the information necessary for a consolidated application for renewal of the Certificate of Compliance. A check covering the cost for the renewal fee ($150.00) is also included.

The SARPs contain drawings (Figures 3 through

9) showing construction detail of the container and one pin holder. He feel that the current detail shown in these drawings would not ause a problem (e.g.. QA inspection) if the drawings are used to check acsual construction features of the containers.

We would like to supply you with the kind of drawings (less detail) you requested in your letter of flarch 17, but the drawings referred to in the SARPs are all we have. Unfortunately, we do not have the resources available to us at this time to produce less detailed drawings. We would like to point out that there have been no changes made to the containers since the last application.

The containers have been used for numerous domestic and foreign shipments without mishap. Periodic Quality Assurance inspections of the containers performed by Westinghouse have revealed no significant damage or change in the structural detail of the containers.

OBattelle Mr. MacDonald June 2, 1980 Page 2 We would also like to inform you that the containers will be used for international shipments in the near future. This will require an extensfon of the Certificate of Competent Authority. A request will be made to the Department of Transportation for the extension of the Certificate of Competent Authority.

Very truly yours, J. J. Fuquay, irector Laboratory Support
