Region II - Suite 3100 101 Marietta Street, NW 50-321/50-366j Atlanta, Georgia 30303 I&E Bulletin 7901B ATTENTION:
Mr. James P. O'Reilly Gentlemen:
On March 6, 1980 and April.21, 1980, Georgia Power Company provided a partial response to your letter dated January 17, 1980, which transmitted I&E Bulletin 79-OlB, " Environmental Qualification of Class lE Equipment". Our March 6, 1980, submittal provided the information requested in items 1, 2 and 3 of the bulletin for applicable Hatch Unit 1 components in the A/E scope of supply.
Similar information for applicable Hatch Unit 2 components is provided in enclosures 1 thru 4 of this letter. provides similar information for the NSSS vendor equipment located inside primary containment for Hatch Units 1 and 2. was developed from information gathered in responding to I&E Bulletin 79-01 and 79-01A.
The following is a siennry of responses provided thus far for action items 1, 2 and 3 of the bulletin.
- 1. provides a master list of all engineering safety feature systeus required to function under postulated accident conditions.
A listing of Class 1E components which are required to function under accident conditions is provided in Enclosure 2 for Bechtel supplied components and enclosure 5 for GE supplied components.
2.
Enclosures 2 and 5 provide Class lE component listing for each i
system and the component level environmental evaluation work sheets.
Enclosures 2 and 5 also identify Class 1E components which do not have adequate qualification data at this time.
In these cases an evaluation, in addition to requesting a document March of the supplier is underway. Further information on the qualification of these components will be submitted with the response to items 4 and 5 of the bulletin. provides test profiles which are referenced in the evaluation work sheets. These profiles are extracted from the manufacturer's test reports.

- 3. provides accident temperature profiles for all com-partments subject to a LOCA/HELB. These profiles are referenced in and 5.
The peak calculated compartment pressures sub-sequent to a HELB are identified in Enclosure 2 with appropriate references to the FSAR.
A re-analysis for HELB was performed for various compartments to generate time / temperature profiles. During this re-analysis we have identified higher than FSAR quoted temperatures in Reactor Building RWCU Heat Exchanger room, Elv. 158' and Elv. 185'.
covers environmental evaluations to the higher temperatures.
The schedule for submitting a reponse to items 4 and 5 of the bulletin is as stated in our April 21, 1980, letter with the following exception. Due to manpower restrictions GE was unable to begin review of the GE supplied equipment until May 12, 1980.
Based on GE's estimate for completion of the task and allowing time for a proper review, a partial response for the GE supplied equipment will be provided by January 9, 1981, with a complete response by April 3, 1981.
If you have any questions or comments in this regard, please contact my office.
Very truly yours, kM.
